Matriarch

$400.00

My mom was a quintessinal matriarch by the time she died just shy of 100 years old. Her deep wish through the years was that all her kids would get along, spend time together, enjoy each other, and “stop the fighting”.

Families are full of diversity: gender, personality, interests, skills, experiences. And that’s before they marry and bring entirely other worlds into the mix.

My mom brooded over all this, finding ways to appreciate each one of her many kids, grandkids, and great grandkids—118 in all. Always reaching out. Including. Inviting.

At her funeral, I was surprised to discover that I was not the only one to feel I was the one she loved most of all. How did she do that?
